ABOUT US

The Canyoning Association of Slovenia (SOZS) has been one of the leading Slovenian and international organisations in the field of education of both professional guides and amateur canyoneers for many years. Slovenia is one of the main European destinations for canyoning and boasts numerous canyons with diverse landscapes and features, therefore, in addition to education, one of the main objectives of the association is to promote the regulation of canyoning in Slovenia, thus improving the safety of participants and reducing the possible negative effects of canyoning on nature.

 

The Canyoning Association of Slovenia was founded in 2004 as one of the members of the umbrella international non-profit organisation CIC (Commission Internationale de Canyon), founded in 1995, which is the organisation with the oldest training programme for canyon guides in the world. In the early years of its operation, the SOZS ran training programmes under the umbrella of the CIC. Since 2015, with a slightly adapted training programme, but with the same international instructors, SOZS has been independently running training programmes in Slovenia, Bosnia and Montenegro.
