ABOUT US
COURSES
For more than a decade, has the Canyoning Association of Slovenia been Slovenia's leading organisation in the field of education of professional canyoning guides. Our mission is to provide comprehensive training covering a wide range of skills and theoretical knowledge necessary for safe and effective guiding in canyons.
Training covers all key aspects of canyoning, from rope techniques and wild water swimming to meteorology, geology, first aid, equipment, safety standards and other theoretical knowledge. In addition, our courses also focuses on developing soft skills such as communication, leadership and environmental care. We believe that these skills are key to successful leadership and creating a positive experience for participants.
Each SOZS Guide commits to a Code of Professional Conduct that includes basic principles of safety, ethics and professional behaviour, while being responsible to the environment in which we operate.
The training of canyoning guides takes place in two stages. The first level - Module 1 - covers the basic technical and theoretical knowledge necessary for effective guiding. Upon successful completion of Module 1, the trainee is awarded the title of Assistant Gorge Guide, which enables him/her to guide easy and moderately difficult canyons.
The second level of training - Module 2 - covers advanced rope techniques for guiding and rescue, and an in-depth understanding of the theory behind the organisation and management of difficult and very difficult canyons. On completion of Module 2 (and the final exam), the trainee is awarded the title of Canyoning Guide and is equipped with the knowledge to guide canyons of all levels.
