Renovation of anchors in Fratarica canyon

Updated: Nov 10

On request of Triglav National Park, the Canyoning Association of Slovenia carried out an extensive renovation of the anchors for canyoning in the Fratarica canyon. The renovation, which covered a total of 13 waterfalls, equipped anchors points with certified glued anchors, thus ensuring a higher level of safety, reliability and comfort for all guided visitors, guides and amateur canyoning enthusiasts.

As part of the safety improvement and enhancement plan, all anchorages will be inspected by the end of 2024 using anchor tester designed for proof loading and testing the pull-out resistance of anchors. This will ensure that every element meets the highest safety standards. Once the inspection has been successfully carried out, the anchors will be additionally fitted with chains for ease of use and carefully numbered, which will contribute to better visibility and orientation in the canyon. To improve safety and comply with the latest standards, most of the old anchors that no longer meet the required specifications will be removed.

We kindly take this opportunity to ask all visitors, guides and companies, to immediately report any damage or irregularities they notice on the anchors, directly to TNP. We would also like to remind you that the making of new anchors without the prior consent of the TNP is prohibited, as we want to maintain a high level of safety and protect the natural environment and cultural heritage of the Triglav National Park.

Your care and cooperation will help to make canyoning in Fratarica safe, enjoyable and accessible for all lovers of this unique sporting experience.
